HEAVEN OF SNOW AND THE BEST PLACE TO ENJOY WINTER IN JAPAN : NAGANO

Nagano Prefecture is an inland prefecture that located in the center of Japan and geographically furthest from the sea in the whole of Japan. Nagano famous with its mountains and its ski resort and yes many people come to Nagano for its mountain resorts and hot springs (onsen). Nine of the twelve highest mountains in Japan can be found in Nagano. Of course surrounded by 3000 meters high mountains, and called "Roof of Japan".  That's why Nagano becomes one of the favorite place to enjoy every winter in Japan.

It's the time of year to spend your time for skiing and visit some winter festival in Japan. Is that spring already in Japan? Is it too late to share the information about snow here right now? If it too late, let's enjoy the winter in December this year. Here I'll share some of the ski resort and place to enjoy winter in Nagano. (p.s. : basically I got some the information from my friend who lived there almost 3 years)

Madarao Kogen Ski Resort

Madarao is located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture. The resort collect more than 100 distinctive hotels and pensions in all around the 1000 meters elevation level. All the hotel and pensions are spread out at the base of Madarao Mountain. Madarao Mountain stand 1382 meters high and has 30 seperate courses. The visitors can choose their own favorite kind of ski course. The visitors can play the ski, snowboard, or just play with snow there. Sugadaira Kogen

Sugadaira Kogen is a popular resort in Nagano and it has a long and wide slopes that are particularly suitable for the skiers and snowboarders learner. Especially for the beginner. In Sugadaira Kogen you can found many shops and ski equipment rental shops featuring skis, snowboards, boots, poles, and another skiing equipment.  There are a wide range of runs on offer during the season which runs from early December till early April.

Also, there are a wide variety of the traditional pensions, lodges and Japanese-style hotels that offered in Sugadaira Kogen. Some of them also offer and provide ski in ski out accessibility. There are also activities that can do besides skiing where the skiers and non-skiers can take part in like hiking, snowshoeing or heli-skiing. The visitors also can enjoy another facilities that Sugadaira Kogen provide there.

Kurohime Kogen Snow Park

Kurohime Kogen Snow Park is a medium sized ski resort with 8 ski lifts that offers skiers a respectable 430 meters (around 1411 feets) of vertical descent. Kurohime Kogen also has 11 main trails or pistes. Kurohime Kogen is the best choice to learn skiing for the beginner skiers and snowboarders but there's some terrain for both whether the expert one or the intermediates one. The resort.

Hakuba Ski Area

Hakuba Ski Area is located in the nothern Japan Alps. The situation is in the breathtakingly beautiful. Hakuba Ski Area becomes one of the most famous resort and becomes one of Japan's top winter resort areas. They offering some of the best winter sports action in Japan. Yes, Hakuba had ever become the host of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. So, Hakuba Ski Area is consist of some resorts in the area. Hakuba Ski Area comprises nine ski resorts stretched across a broad valley and provides more terrain, vertical rise and advanced ski & snowboard slopes that anywhere in Japan. The abundant snow falls and the excellent powder conditions make Hakuba Ski Resort become a perennial top choice for skiers and snowboarders from all around the world.
